Nanotechnology in Russia: From Laboratory towards Industry
Volume 2, Issue 2

Mikhail Ananyan, The Russian Federation, Moscow

The transition to the nanoscale requires an interdisciplinary and coordinated approach to address novel and complex issues. The complexity of these problems distinguishes nanotechnology as a specific area of interdisciplinary engineering knowledge. Therefore, the progress in this area of knowledge calls for a comprehensive approach: from the statement of specific tasks to the organization of industrial production and application of the results obtained in one or many areas of the economic activities. In Russia, Concern NANOINDUSTRY was formed to accumulate scientific and technological developments as well as financial, professional and other resources to create a fundamentally new branch of Russian nanoindustry. In this article, Professor Mikhail Ananyan outlines the various institutions and organizations aimed at making Russian nanotechnology competitive in the global marketplace.
