Abstract:
Quantum dots, also known as semiconductor nanocrystals, are one of the most promising nanomaterials in research and development today. Several nanotech products based on quantum dot technology have already made it to the marketplace. In this article, Executive Ken Barovsky explains how Quantum Dot Corporation is developing and commercializing quantum dot technologies for biomedical applications. He first provides an overview of the different products being developed at QDC, traces the historical development of quantum dots, and summarizes how the technology works. He then engages in a detailed analysis of the company and specific commercialization projects. In the final section, he identifies the most important patents held by QDC.
