Abstract:
Giorgia Guerra, a Ph.D. student at the University of Trento, Italy, examines the past policies supporting and organizing the development of nanotechnology in Europe and also emerging issues on regulation of nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology under the European Unions legal system. Discussed in depth is the problem in classifying nanobiotechnology under existing medical equipment and pharmaceutical regulations, and the future issues regarding nanobiotechnology as a product that potentially might be regulated under E.U. products liability laws.
