Nano-Proprietary Update
May 12, 2008 – 4:30 pmAs discussed in this NanoL&B article Nano-Proprietary is one of the leading U.S. patent holders for materials and applications using nanomaterials for field emission devices, which may form the basis of future high-efficiency and large area displays. Unfortunately the company has been in various litigations which have put a damper on the company’s success. More recently however, one of Nano-Proprietary’s subsidiaries Applied Nanotech, Inc. has completed a U.S. Air Force contract for the development of a carbon monoxide sensor and has been awarded a grant by the Department of Energy to develop nanoparticle inks for solar cells. At the Nano Tech 2008 in Japan Applied Nanotech, Inc. also reportedly exhibited a variety of its applications in hydrogen and carbon monoxide sensors, nanocopper inks, carbon nanotube and nanoclay composites, lighting devices, and air decontamination. So while litigation may temporarily be stalling the development of display technologies based on Nano-Proprietary’s IP it appears that a variety of other applications may be picking up the slack.
