Batter Up! Another field emitter joins the game
May 6, 2008 – 2:38 pmEngadget is one of my favorite blogs. The reason is because they cover topics I am a sucker for, the very topics that made me such a popular guy in high school…..such as field-emittters!
Today, they report that researchers at the University of Illionois Urbana Champaign are able to grow copper nanowires to emit electrons and light up phosphors. So, while my hopes and dreams of OLED displays ruling the world is slowly coming to fruition, it’s interesting to see new display technologies pop up.
In a future post, I’ll take a look at some of the patents related to growing copper nanowires and using them to emit electrons. For a brief overview on other field emission patents, go to TinyTech IP.
